NEARCTIS VCE is a Virtual Centre of Excellence, created under a partnership
with the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI).

NEARCTIS VCE is stemming from the Network of Excellence NEARCTIS-NoE [A Network of Excellence for Advanced Road Cooperative Traffic management in the Information Society, FP7 ICT- 2008-224272], coordinated by IFSTTAR.

NEARCTIS VCE is a virtual, i.e. coordinated research centre, which is capable of aggregating existing and future research laboratories in close connection with industry, to achieve a number of goals that each single participant organization could not reach.

This VCE brings together leading academics, research centers, industrial stakeholders, SMEs, all over Europe.

NEARCTIS VCE

One of the goals of NEARCTIS Network of Excellence was the creation of a Virtual Centre of Excellence (VCE) for its perpetuation. After more than one year of preparation, this VCE, under the leadership of Nour-Eddin El Faouzi (IFSTTAR), came to a reality under a partnership with the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI). This international non-profit organization was founded in 2003 and gathers the major research institutes and universities from 19 European countries. ECTRI's aim is to help build the "European Research Area" (ERA) in transport by cooperation in thematic and process oriented thematic groups, task forces, EU projects, seminars and conferences.
